Privacy Policy
What Cross Country Transpo collects, why, and who else sees it.
Effective 2026-09-09. Cross Country Transpo.
1. Who we are
Cross Country Transpo operates a vehicle fleet in Houston, Texas. Drivers rent our vehicles and drive for rideshare platforms such as Uber. This policy covers our website and the driver tools on it.
Questions, or any request about your own information: crosscountrytranspo@gmail.com, or write to us at 14609 W Lake Houston Pkwy, Houston, TX 77044.
2. What we collect, and when
We do not buy personal information about you and we do not track you across other websites. Everything below is either something you typed, something a platform we pay told us, or something the vehicle itself reports.
- When you apply
- Your name, phone number, email address, how many months you have driven for Uber, your Uber rating, and your answers about your driving record, at-fault accidents, insurance and chauffeur licence, and whether you have a way to get to the car pickup. Anything you write in the free-text box. There is one optional box: if you tick it, you are asking to hear from us about future driving openings. We also record the IP address the application was sent from.
- Your Uber screenshots
- After you apply we ask you to upload a screenshot from your own Uber app: your account's Personal info page. We read the name, phone number and email address off it, and compare the name and phone number with your application. We keep what we read and whether it matched. The images themselves are kept only in encrypted form, and not at all if encryption is not switched on; they are used to confirm that you drive and for nothing else.
- Your Social Security number
- REQUIRED before you can sign, and collected for two reasons. First, you are paid as a contractor, and a contractor paid $600 or more in a year has to be sent a Form 1099-NEC, which cannot be filed without a tax identification number. Second, we hand over a vehicle, and this is how we identify the person who has it — it is security for the car, and we ask for it when you sign your rental agreement, before any vehicle is released and not at the kerb. We do not use it to screen you and we do not run a credit check with it. It is stored encrypted — only the last four digits are kept readable, and only the last four are ever shown on a screen, in an email or in an alert. It is never sent to Notion, Stripe, Uber or any other outside service, and there is no page or API on this site that can display the whole number. If you stop driving with us, ask and we will delete it once our tax filing obligations for that year are met.
- When you sign a rental agreement
- The signature you draw, the initials you place on each disclosure line, and the times the document was opened and signed.
- When you book a shift
- Which vehicle, which hours, and when you booked it.
- When we pay you
- The amount, the date, and an identifier for your payout account. WE NEVER SEE OR STORE YOUR BANK DETAILS — you type those on Stripe's own website, not ours.
- While you are driving one of our vehicles
- Each vehicle carries a GPS device that continuously records its location, and a starter interrupt that can prevent it from being started. This is disclosed in the rental agreement and you initial it separately before a vehicle is released. Location is precise, and we treat it as sensitive.
- When you text or email us
- What you wrote, the number or address it came from, and when.
3. Why we collect it
- To decide on your application and tell you the outcome.
- To draw up and keep a record of the agreement you signed.
- To let you book shifts, and to tell you where to collect the vehicle.
- To pay you, and to work out what you are owed.
- To keep our vehicles insured, and to locate or recover one when we have to.
- To answer you when you contact us.
- If you ticked the optional box on the application, to tell you about future driving openings.
We do not sell your information and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. Unless you ticked that optional box, we do not use it to advertise to you.
4. Who else sees it
We use a small number of services to run the business. Each one gets only what it needs to do its job.
- Stripe
- Payouts and identity checks. You give Stripe your bank details directly, on Stripe's own site. We receive only whether your account is ready to be paid.
- Twilio
- Sends our text messages, and receives your replies.
- SendGrid
- Sends our email.
- GoHighLevel
- Our list of the people who have applied to or driven with us: your name, phone number, email address, and which step you have reached. We message people on that list about future openings only if they ticked the optional box.
- Notion
- Our own roster: your name, your role, whether you are active, your start date and whether your payout account is ready.
- Discord
- A private channel the fleet owner uses for alerts — for example that somebody applied, or that a shift was booked.
- DigitalOcean
- Hosts the software, and stores the nightly encrypted database backups.
We will also hand information to law enforcement, an insurer or a court where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to recover a vehicle.
5. Text messages
When you give us your phone number on the application, you are agreeing that we may text you about your application, your agreement, your shifts and your pay. These are not marketing messages.
Reply STOP to any message and we will not text that number again — this is enforced in the software, not handled by hand. Reply HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. Stopping texts does not withdraw your application; we will email or call instead.
6. How long we keep it
Applications and driver records are kept while you are with us and afterwards for as long as we may need them — for tax, insurance, and any dispute about a rental or a payment. Signed agreements are kept as the record of what was agreed.
Encrypted backups of the database are kept on a rolling basis and older ones are deleted automatically. A deletion request is applied to the live records; a backup taken before your request ages out on that same rolling schedule rather than being opened up and edited.
7. Your choices
Whatever the law requires of a business our size, we will do these things if you ask, and we do not charge for them:
- Tell you what we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Give you a copy.
- Delete it, unless we are required to keep it — for a signed agreement, an unpaid balance, or a tax or insurance record. If we have to keep something we will tell you which and why.
- Stop texting you.
Ask at crosscountrytranspo@gmail.com. We will answer within 45 days. Texas residents have rights under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act; we offer the above to everyone rather than working out who qualifies.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising. A person decides every application, except where the fleet owner has switched on automatic hiring: then an application that meets two plain checks, that you can get to the car pickup and that your Uber screenshots match your application, is approved without a person. A person reviews every other application, and you can ask for a person to review any decision.
8. Keeping it safe
The site is served over HTTPS. Access to the fleet console requires a password or a passkey, and each account only reaches the screens it has been given. Backups are encrypted. Payment credentials never reach our systems.
Some links we send you — your pay page, your agreement, your shift booking — work without a password, because the long random address IS the key. Treat those links as private and do not forward them. They are excluded from search engines.
No system is perfect. If something goes wrong that affects you, we will tell you.
9. Children
This is a service for licensed drivers. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
10. Changes
If we change this policy we will change the date at the top. If a change materially affects what we do with information we already hold, we will tell the drivers it affects directly.
